ICORNERSTONES
– PROJECT MANAGEMENT
When
the Church Council decided to embark on the Cornerstones project in 2004
it established a separate Steering Group which was charged with its
implementation and management. The Steering Group was given a wide range
of responsibilities, including fund raising, planning and encouraging the
introduction of new, and extension of existing, activities and services.
It is responsible to Church Council and works in close liaison with
established committees/groups in the Church in seeking to achieve our aims
and objectives.
It
was, however, always envisaged that when the new building was completed,
now planned for July/August 2009, the Steering Group would be replaced by
a Management Committee which would become a vital part of the overall
management of the Cornerstones project and in the utilisation of the
Church premises. Denise Holmes has already been appointed to Chair the
new Committee and the remaining members are expected to be appointed
shortly. Also key to this development is the appointment of a Project
Development Officer, initially for a five-year period, whose role is to
manage and develop both existing and proposed community facilities. This
appointment has now been made and Debra Divanis took up her post in
October 2008. Debra is working with the Steering Group and the new
Management Committee regarding all aspects of the Cornerstones project,
ensuring our aims and objectives are achieved and that the terms and
conditions agreed with grant funding bodies are observed.
Until
such time as the new building is completed the Steering Group will work
closely with the Management Committee. Duties and responsibilities have
been allocated as follows but these will gradually all be taken over by
the newly established Management Committee.

When
the new management structure is in operation a Community Forum will also
be established, made up of representatives from community organisations
using our premises and this forum will have representation on and report
to the Management Committee |
